Day 24 - Bunn Berry

Hello and welcome to day 24 of the challenge.. :) I painted 2 bunny's in honor of the Year of the Rabbit, the Lunar New year's animal this year.. I'm looking forward to some peace, productivity without stress and prosperity for all.. This little bunn is giving up an offering of a juicy, ripe strawberry to help with the welcome!  I've enjoyed painting fuzzy little critters for the past few days.. seems that a little bit of fuzz goes a long way towards the cuteness..

Mary Jane dudds seem to make it into my paintings every now and again.. I love the simple, classic design and, every time I look them up, I want to get a pair.. why have I not gotten a pair yet??  That'll be a goal for 2023.. get a comfy, chic pair of Mary Janes all of my own.. :) Its the little things..

Day 23 - Bunn in Chucks

Well, as you likely know, we are now in the year of the Rabbit, so Happy Lunar New Year :) To celebrate, here is a cute little Bunn holding a balloon and wearing red chucks.
I've painted a few bunnies during this challenge, so was feeling good about this one.

And, you'll be happy to hear that due to the soft and quiet nature of rabbits, this will a year where we all can focus on rest, introspection and working smarter not harder. I'm all for that!

Day 14 - Roller Skating Rainbow Rabbit

Good day and a happy Saturday to you :)

I've only roller skated a handful of times in my life, but I do remember liking it quite a bit when I did. Haven't done it in years.. and while I don't seek it out on social media, Roller Skating (with a capital R) comes up in my feed sometimes, reminding me that the sport is still alive and well in some areas of the country..

Gliding around on wheels attached to your feet is just a little bit like flying.. and that is what I imagine this bunny is feeling as he glides around the roller rink, blissfully breezing through the moment...

Continuing on with the rainbow theme.. I dunno.. it keeps drawing me back in with it's happy vibes and infinite design possibilities. And I know, this one is a lot more illustrative in nature. If I'm brave enough, I may keep exploring this direction :)

Day 6 - Bun Bow

What can I say about this one?  I know the background in this isn't a traditional rainbow, but it is still a bow... and somehow I've now included rainbow-esque designs in 3 of my challenge paintings, and hope to do a few more.. So, as you'd expect, I've been thinking about rainbows, and I'm wondering why they are popping up in my paintings..  Here's a theory...  rainbows comprise all of the wave lengths of the electromagnetic spectrum that make up Light... In the northern hemisphere, we are currently in the dark part of the year, and, I know quite a few people who don't fare too well during the dark months... lack of light is known to affect mood.. I feel for those folks who get sad in the Winter due to lack of light.. And who knows.. I'm probably affected too, to a degree.  So, I'm thinking that rainbows are showing up in my work lately in an effort to bring a little light to the situation... a few more wavelengths..

And really, who doesn't love rainbows?  Every time it rains.. and then the sun comes out, even when it is still sprinkling just a bit.. I'm running outside to see if there's a rainbow.. It's a special thing to see one, really kind of magical.. So, maybe this is the start of a new series.. my magical rainbow paintings:)

Can't not mention the bunny in chucks with her ladybug companion.. I couldn't help myself. They're just too cute.. Painting this fluffy little bun, well.. she was just plain fun.

All together, I hope this one makes you smile big and brings a little light to your day. :)

Day 3 - Let Hope Bloom

Today's painting of a sweet bunny with flowers on her head it titled "Let Hope Bloom".. Rabbits are symbols of fertility and rebirth, as are flowers, and butterflies too :) Rabbits because of their prolific off spring, flowers because they experience a rebirth each year and butterflies because of the transformation they go through during their lifetime.  I thought it an apt title and every now and then I need to inspire myself.  I've heard that if you have hope, you have everything and I believe that to be true. Hope is a small word but has such power to help transform our thoughts about what could be, to make us get up even after falling, and to sustain us during dark times. With hope, you can accomplish most anything... Let Hope Bloom <3

Day 13 of the 28 in 28 - Do You Like My Hat?

When I was a child and then when I had children of my own, I read a book titled "Go Dog Go" by P.D. Eastman.  It is one of my all time favorite young reader books.. In it there is a dog couple who meet several times in the story.  Every time they meet, the girl dog is wearing a different and very wild hat.  She asks the boy dog, "Do you like my hat?" and every time but the last time he says, "No. I do not like your hat." and he rides away in his little car.  I laugh every single time I think about that senario, and looking at this cow, it is exactly what I think she is asking us... "Do you like my hat?" :)

I've painted Cows (and donkeys, giraffes, rabbits and pigs) inside of teacups before.. but, I've never balanced a teacup on one's head.  A seemingly trite and minor thing to change up, but it does make all the difference in the end result!

Day 1 of the August 30 in 30!

Welcome to Day 1 of the August 30 paintings in 30 days challenge I am doing!  The first day of these challenges is always so amazing... you really don't know what is going to happen in 30 days and the hope and anticipation is fresh and exciting. But know this... I will be painting paintings that are designed to make you smile and I hope that if you follow along, they bring a spot of joy into your day! :)  With no further ado, here is my first entry...

This year, our family planted a decent sized garden. (see pic below..)  We are currently in the midst of dealing with the fruits of our labors (canning, pickling and such) and every day when I go out to tend and harvest, I inevitably stir up a few bunnies.  I painted this little rabbit in honor of all of the little rabbits skittering about in my neighborhood right now, some of whom find their way into my garden. Thankfully I am not seeing any signs of bunny nibbles on any of my slaved over veggies, so for now, they remain cute... I hope they are just hanging in the garden because it is so pretty... :) the plants behind the bunny are from a picture I took while laying on the ground.  I have a thing for the little plants that crop up between the rows - Lady's thumb, clover and plaintain are just a few of the prettly little 'weeds' that I love almost as much as the sweet tomatoes growing by their side. I like to think the bunnies that go in my garden are sweet on them too. About the title, I have a friend I met through my artwork and she recently shared with me that her maiden name was Easterday.  I instantly fell in love with this name and titled another painting (which she purchased..) titled Mr. Easterday's Peaches.  It seemed logical that Mr. Easterday should have a daughter.. don't you think?  And Ms Easterday was born.... <3   To purchase this painting, click here and See you tomorrow!

Bunny, tree, bowl and pitcher

I finished this a few days ago.  Again, some of the things were found at the goodwill, and others were things I have had and loved for awhile.  This painting was my practicing painting white and painting clear glass.  I love the little bunny.  It is a tiny pitcher I got for my Daughter a few years back and have always loved.

It is done in oil and measures 12" x 12"
