Day 3 - Puff

So, painting later in the day on a gray Saturday... after getting to bed way past my bedtime (4 a.m.!) (oops...) is not an easy thing to do.... But I am pleased with how today's painting came out!
Here is day 3's installment for the 30 in 30... a simple little chickadee named Puff...
I am putting this little bird up for auction on my Daily Paintworks web page starting at just $40... if you are interested, bidding lasts 7 days starting today!  Click here to go to my DPW site and see what its all about!

Yesterday's Chickadee

This Could be the name of a poem....
But its not!  I am of course referencing the painting I completed yesterday...  I was commissioned to do this by a man I know from Reiffton and he is giving it to his girlfriend for Christmas.  What a great gift!  His girlfriend is a very sweet person and I hope she enjoys!  I will be framing this and delivering it next week.

Amazed..

I have had a slightly tumultuous few weeks and am happy to be in my studio today....  I was preparing for my gallery opening in which I had 9 paintings... All framed by me.... Then 2 commissions were completed (3 are currently still in process) and then all the prep for the fine art and craft show I participated in over the weekend.... Whew...
And I lost my parttime job in the middle of all this... :(
Can't say I didn't have a melt down a few days ago.... Cause I did... But,
Luckily I have the most supportive family in the whole world... :)

I did o.k. at the art show over the weekend... Actually better than I first thought.   And I met so many nice people who complimented my art in the best of ways.  I feel I am on track... Just a bit frazzled from all this pre- holiday stuff...

But onward!  Today I paint a chickadee commission... and for some incredible reason, it is nearly 70 degrees in SE Pennsylvania and its just 3 days until Thanksgiving!  So my window is open, and I begin...

Will post a picture later...

Thankful...

This is the 2nd of two birds I recently painted.  Birds are fun little creatures to paint.  I think their feathers lend themselves well to a slightly heavier paint application (which I like to do) and generally they have nice, plump, round little bodies.  So nice to be hearing them again when I open my door!  Have I mentioned how thankful I am it is Spring?  This painting is framed with a solid wood black frame and is ready to enjoy!

Little Chicky

Today was the first day that it truly felt like Spring for me.  I cooked dinner on the grill while listening to the joyful cacophony of bird song.  What are they talking about?  Sometimes it seems as if they are singing for the pure love of song.  This little one is my inspiration for Spring after the seemingly endless Winter!  I am really happy with the spontaneous feel of this guy and the quality of my brushstrokes...
