Day 12 of the 30 in 30 - "Let Him Preach"

I was looking up quotes about Goldfinches to try to spark a good title for this one... I came upon a few interesting ones, including a strange one from Picasso...
But, I related most to this one from author Aldous Huxley -

"Fortunately, however, birds don't understand pep talks.  Not even St. Francis'. Just imagine, he went on, preaching sermons to perfectly good thrushes and goldfinches and chiff-chaffs!  What presumption!  Why couldn't he have kept his mouth shut and let the birds preach to him?"
-Aldous Huxley

Just too funny... Aldous calling St. Francis out for preaching to the birds... Love it...  But you know, I do agree, sir!  Listening to the beautiful song of our feathered friends is more oft better than any cacophony of human verbiage one could perceive... Thank you Aldous for the title...

Day 5 - Glass Planets

Who doesn't like marbles?  (I guess there is someone who is a marble hater out there but....) I have always had a certain attraction to marbles.. As a child they seemed magical.. as an adult they are beautiful little objects that sometimes seem to hold a universe in them... Today's entry into the 30 in 30 are of some marbles that I came across the other day and knew then that I would paint them sometime during this challenge... well here they are!  I love that deep indigo color in the background.... one of my favorite colors...

Day 19 of the 30 in 30 - Blue Marble

Today's painting is a miniature... harder to paint than you might think, especially if you are like me and like using big brushes.  The panel measures 4"x4", however, I will be offering this one framed and ready to place in your home... :) So why did I choose a miniature painting?  Well, I had to paint 2 paintings today due to the fact that I have a very busy schedule tomorrow and don't think I will have time to paint... ugh.   But that's o.k., because I did get 2 done today!  I am out of breath (figuratively) and feel like I spent the better part of the day in the studio.  Oh well... not many other things I can think of I'd rather do!  Today's painting is of a marble... Glass orbs are fantastic to paint.  More detail in this tiny object than most other things...
