Day 20 - East Fork Big Woods

Hello!  Today is a big day for me as I am delivering a commission in about a half an hour and am very excited... a bit nervous... I will be posting this painting tomorrow.
But today's painting is back in Idaho... a little place called East Fork, Big Woods River in Hailey.  I loved the dusky, muted tones in this picture and was drawn to the rolling hills in the background. Have a nice day!

Day 7 of the 30 in 30 - Chickens on my mind

It is never easy getting into my studio on the weekend....my kids and hubby are home, and I want to be spending time with them!  But I finally made it up there this evening and got this guy finished just in time.  I actually sketched him onto the panel yesterday during the art fair, but we had to pack everything up early when the rain came.  I haven't painted a chicken in a while and had fun with this subject once again.  Besides, my chicken painting inventory is getting kind of low!  Tomorrow I start laying out a commission I am working on of someone's house, an American Foursquare, (which happens to be one of my favorite styles of houses) It will be interesting dividing my day up into painting for the 30 in 30 challenge (quicker) and working on the commission (slower).... Will let you know how it goes! Thanks, as always for looking!

Day 3 - 30 in 30 challenge

When I started collecting ideas for the 30 in 30 challenge I am taking part in I thought about possible themes for my 30 paintings to fall under. (It can make it easier to come up with ideas if you choose a theme...) I had a few that seemed likely, but never really settled on an idea.  Well, so far, the general theme seems to be....."Summer stuff"... I know, really esoteric..... Can't help it!  I took lots of pics this summer whenever I went places and low and behold....those are the images I am looking at now.... so, yeah.

The 3rd installment in my 30 in 30 set is a beach scene taken on the oh so short beach vacation I took with the kids in July (when the water was a chilly 52 degrees)  Just happened to catch this pretty little girl and her
Dad.  Glad I did!

Day 2, 30 in 30 challenge

If you live near me, you know I decided to plant a stand of mammoth sunflowers this year.  What you may not know is that they are in honor of both my Grandmothers, Laila and Ella.  I have fond memories of sunflowers with both of them and I wanted to have a little bit of them in my back yard this year.  This painting is of one of the many huge sunflowers populating my garden right now.  I snapped the reference pic just as a bumblebee was flying away after pollinating.  I particularly love the juiciness of the paint in this one...
If you are interested in purchasing this painting, I will be posting it on my DPW gallery.
