Day 15 of the 28 in 28 - Duck Chuck Illuminated

Another cheerful duck in chucks for today's entry.. In this one I was specifically thinking about one of Pantone's colors of the year, "Illuminating".  (see picture below)

Pantone usually chooses one color to be the thematic color of the year, but 2021 warranted 2! Illuminating is a bright, sun shiny yellow that is meant to heal, give hope and energize.  I love that!  This little duck is also meant to be a bright spot, hopefully bringing a smile to your face :) the other color, ultimate gray, can be seen below too.

Day 10 - Put Your Best Foot Forward

Every now and again a little duck wearing chucks shows up in my studio :) This guy came along today, putting his best foot forward and dancing to his own rhythm.. ♥

I find that doing these daily painting challenges is a way to practice putting my best foot forward.. by day 10, I start to feel the burn and the challenge gets real.  :) This guy is here to cheer us on!

Day 3 of the 28 in 28 - Easier Together

Whew.  The past few days have been a whirlwind of snow and lots more snow.  We got just about 2 feet over the last 48 hours. It stopped this afternoon and after arting in the morning, the rest of the day was pretty much about shoveling.  Everyone pitched in to help in this arduous work, but we got it done together.  Although my arms hurt a bit and I am wupped, I love times like this when family is forced to come out of our singular spaces to all get something accomplished.. even if it is just shoveling a crap ton of snow. :)  So, today's piece is called Easier Together.. I thought this little elephant and blackbird made a sweet pair, weathering the pink precipitation together, having a nice time because of it. ♥

In addition to being a sweet metaphor, this little painting has some nice areas of texture and color..

Day 24 of the 30 in 30 - "Make 'em Laugh - Cosmo Brown"

When I am feeling inspired to paint my whimsical duck paintings, I am guessing that I am being influenced by my past occupation as a Children's Librarian. I worked as one for just over 6 years and  I have to say that it was truly one of the best jobs I have ever had.  Heck,  I got to choose and read beautifully illustrated books to happy, un-jaded little children every week.  What more could you ask for in a job?  And of course you can't beat the free dissemination of information that public libraries offer and defend every day of their existence.  Public Libraries Rock and don't you forget it.
The title comes from the classic musical "Singing in the Rain", because at first I thought about titling it "Quacking in the Rain",  but just couldn't bring myself to this level of absurdity... And then I remembered this quote from Cosmo Brown, a character in the movie. -  "No matter what, never lose your sense of humor... keep smiling and make em laugh"... If you haven't seen the musical, check it out.   Its a classic for a reason! And I just remembered, the first time I ever saw this movie, I rented it from the library I was working in!  Yay! Love it when life brings you full  circle...

Day 3 - Watching the Sky

Well, it is 3 minutes to mid-night... I was painting all day today, and it is the weekend so, family is home.  It's always hard to be in my studio when I know everyone else is downstairs, but, during this challenge it must sometimes be done.  So, this painting was complete a few days ago as I am ahead of schedule. I am just not always the brightest bulb in the pack and am just getting around to posting now.  So, here it is, "Watching the Sky"..
